Wat Khun Samut Trawat in Ban Khun Samut Chin, Samut Prakan Province in Thailand, is a Thai temple that has now become surrounded by the sea due to land erosion. The above pictures are from a video shot during a storm.
วัดขุนสมุทราวาส อำเภอพระสมุทรเจดีย์ จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ ประเทศไทย เป็นวัดไทยที่ในปัจจุบันล้อมรอบไปด้วยน้ำทะเลเนื่องจากพื้นดินรอบๆถูกน้ำทะเล ในรูปภาพด้านบนเป็นรูปภาพจากวีดิโอซึ่งถ่ายในขณะที่มีพายุ
In these Google Earth satellite pictures, you can see how far away the temple is now from the rest of the community. Many of the families in Ban Khun Samut have moved their houses inland four or five times during the last two generations. In total, over one kilometre of land has been lost and a further four kilometres has been affected. In the picture on the right, you can see their efforts in building a sea wall in order to protect the temple. Although this has helped, it hasn't been enough.

The temple is the only building that hasn't been moved yet in this community. Most of the temple buildings have been raised on stilts, including the kutis where the monks sleep. However, the only thing they could do with the chapel is to raise the floor. In the picture on the left, you can see that the floor level has been raised about halfway. This is the view from the back. For the windows, you can no longer stand and look out at the view. You have to sit down. These last pictures were taken at low tide so there was no water surrounding the temple.
